“I Believe I Become” Wristbands Support Commitment to Graduation
GRPS and Believe 2 Become team up to offer “class of” reminders to all students
September 29, 2010–GRAND RAPIDS. This fall, Grand Rapids Public Schools and Believe 2 Become have teamed up to offer I believe, I become wristbands to all GRPS students in grades six to 12. Wristbands are embossed with the appropriate graduating class year, and each class has a unique color:
- Class of 2011 (Seniors): Silver

- Class of 2012 (Juniors): Purple
- Class of 2013 (Sophomores): Blue
- Class of 2014 (Freshman): Green
- Class of 2015 (8th graders): Orange
- Class of 2016 (7th graders): Red
- Class of 2017 (6th graders): Yellow
For each class and for each individual, the wristband is a tangible symbol of high expectations: that every student receiving one will graduate with his or her peers.
Teachers have been invited to distribute the wrist bands to their classes with an activity that will help reinforce the expectation to graduation and the students’ belief in their own potential. Parents of students will also be invited to wear wrist bands every day in support of their children’s academic success.
