Fernando Pichardo
Graduate, Creston High School
“My goal is to graduate from the University of Michigan.”
Fernando Pichardo never took his eye off the ball during high school. At least, not very often. A strong tennis player in the very competitive O-K White Conference, Fernando played on the varsity team for the Polar Bears for four years. (He also played basketball and baseball during his freshman year.) As a junior, he was recognized as one of the top five players returning to the tennis team.
An active participant in Upward Bound, he also earned Magna Cum Laude distinction on their honor roll for his summer studies.
All his hard work paid off. He will attend the University of Michigan in the fall, the first of his siblings to go to college. “I’m going to study engineering,” he says. “That will give me a lot of options for my career.”
