Lamarr Sherills has star power. On Prom Court, Homecoming Court, the basketball court (point guard or shooting guard), the track (400 meters and long jump), or the drum line… Lamarr shines.
His motivation to achieve came from himself and his older brother, James. “In high school he slacked off,” Lamarr says. “He always said ‘I want you to be better than me.’ That motivated me to keep myself on track.” Now, the young man who believes the keys to academic success are concentration and preparation is headed to Ferris State University.
He plans to study computer engineering, with one more source of motivation. “The rest of my family hasn’t stayed in school,” he says. “My mom really wants me to be the one to succeed.”
